Inexpensive Star Wars Stocking Stuffer Watches

The key to giving a watch as a little extra stocking stuffer is to choose a watch that will be fun for the recipient.  The world is awash in inexpensive watches that celebrate sports teams, superheroes, and movies.  For example, kids aged 6 to 60 might find a Batman watch or a Star Wars watch a lot of fun.   I recently spotted a number of Star Wars watches at Big Lots for very low prices.  For $10-$15 you simple can't go too far wrong.

Obviously, these little quartz watches aren't the finest of Swiss timepieces.  But, for a young Star Wars fan, they would probably be very cool.

Older Star Wars fans may find more expensive Star Wars watches appealing.  As of December 2024, Citizen produces Star Wars watches for adults and you can find them here on Amazon.

If you want the Storm Trooper look or you actually want to see Bobba Fet, watch makers have you covered.

As of December 2024, I was able to find many affordable Accutime Star Wars watches for kids and a few for adults here on Amazon.

[This article was updated in December 2024 to update the link for adult Star Wars watches to the Citizens Star Wars watches on Amazon.  Big Lots is in bankruptcy and is in the process of selling itself to a private equity firm which puts brick-n-mortar stores in the chain in some jeopardy of closing.]

Back To School Watches for Boys and Young Men

For many American families, it's back to school time.  Many kids are getting new wardrobes and for some that will include a new watch or two.  While most kids are probably relying on cell phones for timekeeping, there are lots of cool watches to choose from.

If your kid is into comic book heroes like Captain America or Batman, I've seen good choices in those genres at Target and Kohls.

Younger kids might benefit from a "time teacher" watch that has clearly marked hour and minute hands.  This inexpensive Batman watch from Amazon is a great example.

If Star Wars is your kid's thing, I've recently seen these inexpensive Star Wars Storm Trooper digital watches at Walmart.

Finally, if your kid is into survival shows like Bear Grylls' Man vs. Wild or Les Stroud's Survivor Man, Casio makes several rugged watches that are adventure ready.  Of course, one of the most affordable and practical is the venerable Casio Forester.  It has a velcro band, backlighting, and a very affordable price tag.  Casio Forester watches make great dog walking watches!

I also like my Casio Tough Solar Ana-digital watch.  The strap has a practically  unlimited number of perforations which will allow the watch to fit any sized wrist.  It's my current "go to" bang around watch!

If your kid is going back to school, a watch is one way to tell time without pulling out the super distracting cell phone.

[As of August 2025, the Casio Forester is still available on Amazon.com for less than $30. If you are ready to set out into the deep woods, you can find the Casio Forester here on Amazon.]

Shark Watches for Shark Week!

It's here!  This is the one week of American television programming that has teeth.  It's Shark Week on the Discovery Channel.   It's only natural for this blog to celebrate Shark week with sharks and Shark watches.

A Freestyle Shark Watch

As a brand, Shark was established in 1997. The official home for Shark brand watches can be found at the parent company Freestyle.  Shark watches are affordable and attractively styled.  I think these digital watches would mostly appeal to kids and teens. If you'd like to see the Freestyle Shark watches available on Amazon, click the link below:

I first encountered a real shark as a student in a Marine Biology summer school class in North Florida.  Our class was fishing with a large seine net just off the beach.  I was stationed just outside the middle of the net.  I saw a gray blur inside the net speeding towards me.  Then I noticed a hole in the net right near my feet.  The blur was a juvenile shark and he shot through the hole, zig-zagged through my legs, and disappeared into the vast Atlantic Ocean.  My shark was probably all of 2 feet long.  To this day, I can remember his fins brushing against my legs.

Perhaps the shark I encountered grew into a huge predator and roamed the seas for years?  Sharks can live for 20 to 30 years in the wild.  As the apex predator, once my shark got big, there would be little for him to fear in the sea.

While sharks feature multiple rows of sharp teeth, Shark watches feature a wide variety of styles. If you are in an extended shark phase, these watches might be a good choice!

Stealth Fighter Inspired Digital Watch

When the F-117 Nighthawk was revealed in 1988, it revolutionized air warfare.  For the first time, an aircraft was nearly invisible to radar.  It was the "stealth fighter."  The aircraft served with distinction in the skies over Panama, Iraq, and Yugoslavia until being retired in 2008.

Today (as of this July 30, 2025 post update), you can get an interesting looking Stealth Fighter inspired digital watch on Amazon.

Gosasa (SKMEI) Men's Sports Military Watch with Airplane-Shaped LED (Amazon Photo)

This stealth watch is from SKMEI and uses an unusual case design.  According to Amazon reviews, it's a very popular watch with kids.  If you are looking for a way to bring a grandchild into the world of watch collecting, the stealth fighter watch might be a great way to start.

You can find this unusual watch at this link posted on 7/30/2025:

Character Watches for Kids

There has been a lot of talk in the watch collector community about how watches don't hold much interest to kids and younger collectors.  For them, the cell phone holds their interest and serves as their status symbol.  But, there are lots of cool watches for available for kids.  For example, Target, Kohl's and Walmart have good collections of character watches for kids.

Here are a few that I saw on a recent trip to my local Target.  These watches would make great stocking stuffers this Christmas.
