Inexpensive Watches with Subdials

Complications and subdials are the mark of a sophisticated timepiece.  Unfortunately sophistication is never cheap.  Fortunately, if you crave the style and precision of a fine European timepiece with subdials, there are lots of beautiful Asian-sourced watches from familiar watch brands.  They are priced affordably and many sell  for less than $100.

The Quest for a Thin Watch

Thick watches abound in the world of watch making.  A company can build a stout movement and encase it in an impenetrable wrist castle and call it a day.  Making a reliable, light weight, and wafer-thin watch movement is much more of a challenge.  If you are looking for a watch that is thin and comfortable, read my article:

A Very Cool Grenen Watch from Denmark

I really like Skagen's Grenen brand of watches.  They look great and they are very affordable at Kohl's.  I recently bought one at over 60% off and I love it.  When other watches are thick and bulky, Grenen offers a thin and light alternative.

As of 2024, you can still find Skagen and Grenen watches on Amazon.  Here's a review that I published about another Grenen watch.

It's Hip to Wear Square - Square Watches that is!

Ever since the Bell & Ross Instrument Panel watches hit the scene, square watches have been highly cool.  However, a premium Bell & Ross BR01 is a pretty expensive watch.

Fortunately, there are many attractive square watch alternatives for men.  To read more, check out my article:  Affordable Square Watches for Men

Here are some pictures of even more square watches that are affordably cool!

Slabang - An Ikea Clock with a Recording Function

It's a small leap from watches to clocks.  The topics seem to overlap from time to time.  I'd like to share an interesting alarm clock that I picked up from Ikea.  It has traditional alarm clock functions, but also allows you to record your own alarm clock sounds.  Best of all, it only costs $6.00.  Here's a complete review:

A Non-Automatic Watch from Elgin

When I bought it for Christmas, I thought it was an automatic.  It looked like it was an automatic.  The jewelry counter clerk at Sears told me it was an automatic.  But, guess what, it is not an automatic!  It's a good thing that the watch has a beautiful, beautiful, face.  I'll forgive this watch.  But, next year, Santa might bring Sears and MZ Berger a lump of coal or two!

It's still a great watch.  You can read my complete review here:

The Sharp Turbine Watch at Le Kmart!

As a man of distinction, good taste, and an appreciation of the finer things, it is only natural that I should gravitate towards impressive horological achievements like the Perrelet Turbine automatic watch.  But, alas, I have not the wealth to match my timekeeping aspirations.  I had to seek alternatives to the Perrelet Turbine.  Fortunately, I was able to snatch up this turbine-style watch from Sharp at Kmart for only $19.99!  Kmart even sent me a letter and key ring card recognizing me as a VIP.  Take that Switzerland!

Another Great Men's Dress Watch from Walmart

I recently found another cool dress watch at Walmart.  This one was only $12.88.  While it isn't as nice as my Pulsar, Bulova, or Seiko watches, it works well in an office environment and looks nice.  You can read more about it in my review:
