Sharp Watch Shout Out: The Casio G-Shock for Imperial Storm Troopers

If anyone needs a break, it has to be the Imperial Storm Troopers from Star Wars. They are constantly getting blasted or cut up with light sabres. It's can't be an easy life. They probably don't even get paid enough to buy official Star Wars merchandise.  Fortunately, I found the perfect watch for them from Casio. It's the Casio G Shock in White (Model GA-700-7ACR).  This watch is a great gift idea for any Star Wars fan or winter warrior.

You can find this great looking watch here on Amazon. This watch is strongly made with 200 meters of water resistance and a shock proof movement.  The resin body of the watch is also shaped to protect the watch dial from impact. If you'd like to get this Casio G-Shock watch or study it further, you can find it here on Amazon.  If you are looking for a less expensive alternative, the Casio Tough Solar in white has the same Star Wars look for even less.  You can check out my post on it here.  These non-Star Wars Star Wars watches are a great buy.

Gift Idea: Citizen Limited Edition Star Wars Watches

If you are looking for a really nice Christmas or Hannukah gift for a Star Wars fan, Citizen watches might have just have you covered this holiday season.  They have recently released a collection of really great looking Star Wars watches.

These watches cover iconic characters like Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Hans Solo, and Bubba Fett.  They also have a watch dedicated to the Death Star.  Each watch is powered by the famed Citizen Eco-Drive movement which uses solar power to power the watch for months at a time.  I personally love Eco-Drive watches because they never need batteries or winding.  However, the Eco-Drive movement does tend to drive up the price tag.

While these watches are dedicated to a Star Wars theme, there is nothing cheap and cheesy about them.  They have subtle designs that would look good in any setting.  Each watch is a limited edition.  For example the Luke Skywalker watch is limited to 1977 watches to commemorate the year of the original Star Wars move release.

I've covered plenty of Star Wars watches on this blog.  I've included Accutime Millenium Falcon Pocket Watches, inexpensive Stars Wars watches, and even Casio watches that just remind me of Star War.  These watches from Citizen are the real deal and would be an excellent choice for a professional.

Watch Review: Accutime Star Wars Millenium Falcon Pocket Watch

Sometimes the watches that add the most fun to a collection are the watches that don't cost much at all.  They are the watches that take you to a different time and a different place.  In the case of my new Accutime Star Wars Millenium Falcon pocket watch, it takes me to a galaxy far, far, away.

Some folks can just close their eyes, use the force, and know what time it is.  I'm not one of those folks.  I like to use a watch.  I picked up this one a few months ago at Walmart. It's an Accutime Star Wars Millenium Falcon pocket watch and it is pretty cool.  The detail of the watch cover is simply spectacular for a sub-$20 watch.  The timepiece is an officially licensed piece of Star Wars merchandise made by Accutime.

The dial features a top-view of the Hans Solo's famous freighter.  It's a nifty detail, but not nearly as spectacular as the case cover.  The watch does feature a Japanese quartz movement for reliability.

The scalloped interior detail of the case cover is a nice touch.

There are many more expensive and prestigious Star Wars themed watches.  For example, Nixon makes a very nice line of Star Wars watches.  Citizen also offers a Millenium Falcon watch.

However, the low price point at Walmart brings this watch into the realm of spectacular.  This watch is cheap fun!  It makes me happy to see Star Wars merchandise and gear available at every price point.

I plopped the watch down on a fire hydrant near my home so that I could capture the watch from a couple of different angles.

No matter how you look at this pocket watch, it just looks cool.  It does successfully evoke the Millenium Falcon feeling.

As far as practicality goes, the Millenium Falcon watch has all the drawbacks of an old fashioned pocket watch.  With the chain, it's a lot to put in a pocket and if you have to pull something out of a pocket to tell the time, it's easier to pull out a cellphone.  Thus, this collectible is not a watch I take with me very often or use much.  But, it is a watch I enjoy handling and looking at.  I do throw it in my pocket ever so often.

Practical?  Maybe not.  Pretty yes!

If you are a nerd, this might just be your watch.  If I had no cares about fashion at all and totally wanted to geek out, a Star Wars tee shirt and this watch on a Medallion would be THE outfit.

It would be ridiculous to put together a point-by-point review of this watch.  It's just inexpensive fun.  If you are a fan of the Star Wars films, Han Solo, Chewbacca, and the Millenium Falcon, this is just a cool watch to own.

Inexpensive Star Wars Stocking Stuffer Watches

The key to giving a watch as a little extra stocking stuffer is to choose a watch that will be fun for the recipient.  The world is awash in inexpensive watches that celebrate sports teams, superheroes, and movies.  For example, kids aged 6 to 60 might find a Batman watch or a Star Wars watch a lot of fun.   I recently spotted a number of Star Wars watches at Big Lots for very low prices.  For $10-$15 you simple can't go too far wrong.

Obviously, these little quartz watches aren't the finest of Swiss timepieces.  But, for a young Star Wars fan, they would probably be very cool.

Older Star Wars fans may find more expensive Star Wars watches appealing.  As of December 2024, Citizen produces Star Wars watches for adults and you can find them here on Amazon.

If you want the Storm Trooper look or you actually want to see Bobba Fet, watch makers have you covered.

As of December 2024, I was able to find many affordable Accutime Star Wars watches for kids and a few for adults here on Amazon.

[This article was updated in December 2024 to update the link for adult Star Wars watches to the Citizens Star Wars watches on Amazon.  Big Lots is in bankruptcy and is in the process of selling itself to a private equity firm which puts brick-n-mortar stores in the chain in some jeopardy of closing.]

Casio Watches for Imperial Storm Troopers

Today is the release date of a long anticipated movie -- Star Wars:  The Force Awakens.  The movie will re-unite the original Star Wars cast and has excited fans worldwide.  With Christmas just days away, the question has to be asked:  Do you have any Imperial Storm troopers on your Christmas list this year?  If so, these watches from Casio might make the perfect gift.  These are simply white Casio Tough Solar watches, but I think they capture the sheen and attitude of Star Wars imperial storm trooper armor perfectly.  I have the "jungle" version of the Casio Tough Solar have previously reviewed it.  As of 2024, if you'd like to get a Storm Trooper look at a decent price, you can find the Casio Men's AQ-S810WC-7AJH Analog-Digital Quartz White Watch on Amazon.  But, you'll never be able to say the name three times fast.

There is also a purely digital version for the high tech set.  Both of these watches look very cool.  Since they aren't actual Star Wars(tm) products, they also need to work first and foremost as watches.

These aren't expensive watches and you aren't paying a premium for Star Wars branding.  [As of 2024, you can find this Casio Tough Solar Digital watch on Amazon. The links in this article have been refreshed as of December 2024.]
