Watch Spotlight: Seiko SNE593 Prospex Dive Watch

An  Extreme Action Winter Weather Watch

The weather forecasters are going crazy with predictions for snow in the American South. In Atlanta, Georgia, people have rushed to the grocery stores seeking milk, eggs, and other necessities. They look ready. People are digging out their winter weather gear. Of course, some folks around here have been wearing parkas and boots ever since temperatures dipped below 60-degrees. But, all this weather talk does make me wonder if there are some attainable watches that would be appropriate for extreme winter conditions.

One watch that comes to mind is the Seiko Prospex dive watch. The Seiko Model SNE573 accompanied the 63rd and 64th Japanese Antarctic expeditions in 2021 and 2022. It had a very reliable V147 Solar Quartz movement. Today, the comparable Seiko Prospex model is the SNE593. It has the updated Seiko V157 solar quartz movement. Seiko Prospex watches have been tested in conditions down to 20-degrees Celsius.

Like its predecessor, the Seiko SNE593 has a 10-month power reserve when fully charged, water resistance for up to 200-meters, a rotating unidirectional bezel, lumibrite hands and markers, and a reputation for ruggedness. You can peruse or purchase this watch at my affiliate link on Amazon here.
