Sharp Watch Shout Out: The Nautica Men's Stainless Steel Round Multifunction Watch

Sometimes a watch stops you mid-swipe, mid-scroll, mid-search, and demands your attention. Such is the case with Nautica Model 10061. The watch simply looks perfect. The Amazon ad copy said this watch is where "masculinity and metal come together." I tend to agree. That's why this Nautica gets this week's sharp watch shout out. It features a deep blue dial surrounded by gleaming stainless steel. So shiny!

Nautica Men's Stainless Steel Watch (Modiel 10061)

Powered by a Japanese quartz movement, this Nautica has a 41mm diameter stainless steel case that is 11mm thick. Both the watch and bracelet are constructed of stainless steel and the strength results in 100-meters of water resistance. The multifunction dials provide the 24 hour time, date and day functionality. All of which combine to provide excuses to order a great looking watch. If you are interested, you can find this Nautica here on Amazon via my affiliate link.

Sharp Watch Shout Out: The MVMT Mulholland Racer Chronograph

I recently came across a really classy looking chronograph watch:  the MVMT Mulholland Racer Chronograph. It's a retro watch inspired by Malibu's famed Mulholland Drive and the California street racing culture of the 1970s. This watch easily earns a Sharp Watch Shout Out due to its phenomenally great looks. I love the "Dune Bronze" case and color combination and the perforated leather GT-style strap. The pale white dial and headlight-inspired sub-dials also evoke the classic chronograph styles that live in our collective psyches.

Truth be told: the other color combinations are also worth a look. Sunset Orange, Marina Del Ray, and Astro Blue are all rich looking combinations that conjure slightly different feelings that combine retro memories and sportiness. Some of the other watch variants offer a stainless steel jubilee bracelet, but I like the 21mm wide leather strap. The underlying watch is powered by a Miyota 6S21 quartz chronograph movement. The watch also offers 50-meters of water resistance for a bit of weatherproofing. The case is 42mm in diameter and 12.7mm thick. The watch is protected by hardened-mineral crystal. This is a pretty solid watch design and price seems to hold steady at under $300. That's not bad for a well-designed watch from a Movado-owned brand.

If you are interested in this great California design, check it out here via my Amazon affiliate link. You'll have to supply your own classic muscle car!

Sharp Watch Shout Out: The Venezianico Redentore Bronzo

I found another amazing watch on the Venezianico watches website. This one is the Venezianico Redentore Bronzo or Venetian Redeemer Bronze. Isn't it beautiful?

It's just an amazing looking 40mm watch with a hand-aged antique bronze finish.  It's powered by a Miyota 9039 Automatic movement and it has sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating. The front of this watch is enough to earn it an instant sharp watch shout out! But, wait until you see the etched caseback!

Venezianico is taking pre-orders for this watch now.  The price is set at about $750. That's a very attainable price point for a dream watch like this. Unfortunately, I may have to do some plotting, planning, and scheming to get this one. But, if you can afford it, this looks like a very special timepiece. You can visit it here on the Venezianico website.

Sharp Watch Shout Out: Venezianico Redentore Avventurina 40

I am seriously in lust with the watches of a relatively new watch brand based in Italy:  Venezianico.  Established in 2017, they have five collections that cover sport, dive, racing, skeleton, and dress watch styles. But, the watch that has really captured my imagination is called the Venezianico Redentore Avventurina. It has a dial made of a fine Venetian glass material called Aventurine. Glass infused with flecks of copper, Aventurine looks like a field of stars against a black sky. My screen capture from their website doesn't do this watch justice.  You'll just need to poke around on their website:  https://us.venezianico.com/.

The brand has adopted the medieval crosses typically found in the architecture of Venetian churches and cathedrals as its logo. Prices are competitive with brands like Nivada Grenchen and Movado. I think these watches are amazing looking and the prices are attainable for mere mortals.

Sharp Watch Shoutout: The Bulova Super Seville

The hot trend in men's watches right now is the return of dress watches and the return of smaller dial sizes. Perhaps it is due to the mass realization that we won't all be SCUBA diving today? Or, maybe, it's a matter of men making the best of return to the office mandates? I'm not sure. But, it has certainly surfaced some interesting watches lately. The Bulova Super Seville (Model 97B223) brings together a high tech Precisionist quartz movement, the richness of a gold tone, and the best of retro style. This is a watch that really deserves a sharp watch shout out!

Sometimes, I think that gold-toned stainless steel watches with fluted bezels are simply copying the famed Rolex Datejust. But, Bulova brings in an interesting twist with what they call a retro TV case shape. The iconic tuning fork also brings in a touch of class. The 262 kHz Precisionist movement brings in technology that brings extraordinary timekeeping and a smooth, almost sweeping, motion to the second hand. I think Bulova has brought together a unique package with the Super Seville.

Finally, I can't really afford this watch. But, at about $500 to $800, it's not entirely out of reach either. If I had to suit up on a regular basis and interact with executives or argue cases in a courtroom, this watch would be a great choice. Heck, in a situation where business casual means a nice dress shirt with no tie, a great pair of slacks, and really nice shoes, the Bulova Super Seville would be a great choice.

I can really envision this watch as part of a very sharp outfit for a high profile job. But, I can't see it on Amazon yet.  If you'd like a Bulova Super Seville, you can find it here on the Bulova Website. The watch is also available at Zales, Reeds, and other jewelers.  For something this nice, it might be good to see it in person and have the bracelet adjusted as needed.

Sharp Watch Shout Out: UNDONE Basecamp Classic Military and Vintage-Inspired Automatic

If you're willing to experiment with a new brand, you might be well rewarded.  The new brand, UNDONE, has some great looking offerings on Amazon.  This 40mm diameter watch has the venerable Japanese NH35 automatic movement, a Lexan polycarbonate lens, and an attractive leather strap.

UNDONE Basecamp Classic

This watch offers a unique and very attractive look for less than $400. It also has 100 meters of water resistance for real performance. This Hong Kong-based brand makes rugged and beautiful watches across their entire product catalog. But, this Basecamp Classic earns them this week's sharp watch shout out. It's just a great looking watch. To see it on Amazon, check out this product listing.

Sharp Watch Shout Out: Frederique Constant Slimline Automatic Blue Dial Men's Watch

All the Alibaba watch specials in the world can't provide one thing: mystique. There is something special about the long tradition of Swiss watch making that is special. It's like the spark of humanity. It's also about wearing something that connects you to all that tradition and craftsmanship. Unfortunately, the mystique of a genuine Swiss mechanical watch usually comes with a price tag that keeps the watches off of most wrists. Fortunately, every once in awhile, I stumble across a watch or a brand that might be priced within the range of our dreams.  One such recent discovery on Amazon is the Frederique Constant brand. I like the Frederique Constant Slimline Automatic Blue Dial Men's Watch.

With an open heart to provide a glimpse of the watches mechanical movement and a exhibition caseback, the Frederique Constant Slimline Automatic is beautiful inside and out. Frederique Constant has pioneered the use of carbon-coated silicone parts in their movements. That's why they get the sharp watch shout out!

Frederique Constant is one of three Swiss brands that was recently acquired by Citizen, but design and manufacturing is still done in Geneva, Switzerland.  While the Slimline Blue Dial retails for just over $1000, they offer a variety of automatic and quartz movements.  A slimline quartz model was available on Amazon for less than $400.

While deals and models change and evolve, you can find Frederique Constant watches for men here on Amazon.
