Sharp Watch Shout Out: Timex Harborside Coast 43mm with Herringbone Strap

I just found a very cool Timex Harborside Coast on Amazon.  It has a green, black, and gunmetal color combination that includes a herringbone fabric strap. The Harborside is typically thought of as an homage watch, but with this combination of colors and fonts, Timex goes all the way up the river and wins its own way. I like it. That's why this one gets a sharp watch shout out!

Sharp Watch Shout Out: The MVMT Mulholland Racer Chronograph

I recently came across a really classy looking chronograph watch:  the MVMT Mulholland Racer Chronograph. It's a retro watch inspired by Malibu's famed Mulholland Drive and the California street racing culture of the 1970s. This watch easily earns a Sharp Watch Shout Out due to its phenomenally great looks. I love the "Dune Bronze" case and color combination and the perforated leather GT-style strap. The pale white dial and headlight-inspired sub-dials also evoke the classic chronograph styles that live in our collective psyches.

Truth be told: the other color combinations are also worth a look. Sunset Orange, Marina Del Ray, and Astro Blue are all rich looking combinations that conjure slightly different feelings that combine retro memories and sportiness. Some of the other watch variants offer a stainless steel jubilee bracelet, but I like the 21mm wide leather strap. The underlying watch is powered by a Miyota 6S21 quartz chronograph movement. The watch also offers 50-meters of water resistance for a bit of weatherproofing. The case is 42mm in diameter and 12.7mm thick. The watch is protected by hardened-mineral crystal. This is a pretty solid watch design and price seems to hold steady at under $300. That's not bad for a well-designed watch from a Movado-owned brand.

Sharp Watch Shout Out: Bulova Men's Archive Series Chronograph C

 If you are looking for a new watch with a different look, you might check out the Bulova Men's Archive Series Chronograph C. The watch is a modern replica of an old Bulova design.  It's unusual dial and bracelet earn it a sharp watch shout out!

The Chronograph C has a novel blue and white dial and comes with both a stainless steel mesh bracelet and a blue leather bracelet. The stainless steel bracelet is interesting because it is all mesh near the watch and an articulated bracelet with a mesh imprint near the clasp. (Update: I've found that you can also buy this watch with just the leather strap and have details later in this post.)

I haven't seen a watch quite like them one before. The dial and color combinations are interesting. Amazon pairs it with light colored clothing like white jeans and linen shirts. It almost takes on a tropical vibe with those pairings.

The thing I like about this watch is that it offers a combination of brand, heritage, and visual novelty that is very appealing. It also uses Bulova best high performance quartz movement. Plus, the watch is on sale right now (July 2025) on Amazon for 26% off!

I'm updating this post since I've just learned that the Bulova Men's Archive Series Chronograph C also sells for considerably less with just a blue leather strap. It is just a little over $300 in this more simplified format. That price point will undoubtedly make the Chronograph C a much more comfortable purchase for many buyers.

Sharp Watch Shout Out: The René Mouris Mythique Le Monde

When it comes to watches, sometimes fashion and form take precedence over functionality. Such is the case when it come to the Eiffel Tower inspired Mythique Le Monde from French watchmaker René Mouris. With a truly unique hexagonal case, the Mythique Le Monde is an amazing watch from a maker that has grown from microbrand to Amazon seller. The unique look and French sensibility earns this watch a well-deserved sharp watch shout out!

The René Mouris Mythique Le Monde comes in seven color combinations. Critics have noted that the thin hands can be difficult to read and the automatic movement is a fairly common Miyota. However, I doubt there could be a more unique and authentically French addition to a watch collection.  This watch is definitely worth a visit here on Amazon. While the Mythique Le Monde watch is a flagship priced at nearly $800, the maker has a variety of cool looking watches with most prices averaging around a far more attainable $400 on Amazon.
