Watch snobs love to malign Invicta. The brand has a lot to live down from its era of infomercial excess. They used to claim their watches were worth highly inflated prices and then offer staggering discounts. It was misleading. However, once you know how to look through all that and where to shop for Invicta watches, you'll find they offer a wide variety of fun watches at affordable prices. San Francisco Giants and New York Yankees Watches

The 2026 season of Major League Baseball starts off tonight with a game between two of the leagues most storied teams:  the San Francisco Giants and the New York Yankees.

The two teams used to be cross-town rivals.  The Giants were founded in 1883 and played as the New York Giants until 1957 when they moved west.

They played against the New York Yankees in six world series during their New York tenure. Those games were known as Subway Series. The Giants and Yankees played again in the 1962 world series.

Ten Dollar Tuesday: EOJOMIN Gediyar Men's Large Big Face Watch

Today's $10 watch is sold on Amazon by EOJOMIN. It's a Gediyar-branded "Men's Large Big Face Wrist Watch Waterproof Silicone Band Watch for Men Quartz Analog,Easy Read Male Dress Date Luminous Sport Watch Elegant Gift." It comes straight out of China's Guangdong Province and its stuffed with keywords, a familiar dial pattern, and a quartz movement. All for well under $10.

This one is a bit of a challenge to my buying sensibilities because the large numerals on the dial 02, 03, 04 are an obvious homage to Diesel watches that aren't that old. I actually do want to get a classic Diesel watch with those iconic big numbers someday.

Despite the big face name, this Gediyar watch is practically sized at 45mm in diameter with a normal 11mm case thickness. The silicone strap is also generously sized at 22mm wide and 25 centimeters long. User reviews show the watch marked as having a stainless steel caseback and the case is noted in the description as being a steel alloy case. The watch comes in a variety of color combinations and is a great looking timepiece for a very low price. Wristwatch Review: Nibosi Men's Black Stainless Steel Quartz Watch

I recently came across a Nibosi Men's Stainless Steel Quartz Watch in black for only $11.99 on Amazon. It was an incredible deal.

This is my third Nibosi watch, but in terms of build quality, it may be my best one.

This Nibosi watch is minimalist in terms of features. It's a simple straight forward design with a quartz movement. This watch is impressive in terms of style, fit, finish, and price.

Nibosi Watch Style

This watch is visually striking with a black case, bracelet, and dial contrasted by gold tone hands and markers. While Nibosi makes plenty of homage watches, this one seems to be created in a style of their own that is well within mainstream watch expectations. Sometimes, I like the independence of an affordable watch that isn't an homage to a classic.

The stainless steel bracelet makes great use of glassy black outer links and flat black interior links. This alternating use of color and text provides subtle visual interest.

In day-to-day wear, I find that the gold-tone hands and markers really catch the light and reflect well in low light or fading light conditions.

Nibosi Watch Construction

This Nibosi watch has a stainless steel caseback, bracelet, and case. It also has a flat mineral glass crystal. The watch has 100 feet (30-meters) of water resistance. It's not for swimming, showering, or immersion, but it should be resistant to incidental splashes and rain.

I didn't see any obvious cost cutting in this watch. It seems very competitive with low cost watches found in stores. I'd say that build quality far exceeds similarly priced watches from brands like George. The watch doesn't have any sharp edges or anything that would dig into the wrists. It's comfortable for all day wear.

For me, this Nibosi watch is perfectly proportioned. The case is about 42mm in diameter and 9.65mm thick. The bracelet is about 21mm wide and about 220mm long. 

Overall Impressions of the Nibosi Black Quartz Watch

This watch won't impress people with its pedigree, but it is a nicely priced watch with great features and style for the price. It's another watch that pressures Timex and Casio to bring us nicer watches at lower prices. I like this watch quite a bit. As an IT worker, the economy has kicked me around a bit lately. An incredible watch bargain is a nice way to kick back.

Sharp Watch Shout Out: The MVMT Mulholland Racer Chronograph

I recently came across a really classy looking chronograph watch:  the MVMT Mulholland Racer Chronograph. It's a retro watch inspired by Malibu's famed Mulholland Drive and the California street racing culture of the 1970s. This watch easily earns a Sharp Watch Shout Out due to its phenomenally great looks. I love the "Dune Bronze" case and color combination and the perforated leather GT-style strap. The pale white dial and headlight-inspired sub-dials also evoke the classic chronograph styles that live in our collective psyches.

Truth be told: the other color combinations are also worth a look. Sunset Orange, Marina Del Ray, and Astro Blue are all rich looking combinations that conjure slightly different feelings that combine retro memories and sportiness. Some of the other watch variants offer a stainless steel jubilee bracelet, but I like the 21mm wide leather strap. The underlying watch is powered by a Miyota 6S21 quartz chronograph movement. The watch also offers 50-meters of water resistance for a bit of weatherproofing. The case is 42mm in diameter and 12.7mm thick. The watch is protected by hardened-mineral crystal. This is a pretty solid watch design and price seems to hold steady at under $300. That's not bad for a well-designed watch from a Movado-owned brand.

Watches made from recycled materials are an interesting subset of the horological world. Several companies offer them and, now, MVMT offers their Ocean Plastic Watch for 45% off on Amazon. The watch has a wave design in the dial, a 45mm diameter case, a solar-powered movement, and a 100-meter water resistance rating to allow its actual use swimming and at the ocean.

The strength of this MVMT watch is its artistic design. You don't often find watches with strong designs incorporating unconventional materials, textures, and visual elements at affordable price points. But, at 45% off this watch comes in at just under $60. It gets 3.5 stars in 10 ratings on Amazon. Some purchasers have found the 22mm wide strap to be too short. A Short Suspension on X

This week my the watch dude account got temporarily suspended on X. I shared some of the commission junction watch deals for Timex and I think I ran afoul of the social media platform's rules against spam and third-party advertising. I guess I proved human and they revived me. Unfortunately, they didn't clarify what rules I violated to catch the attention of their algorithm.

The suspension was a bit of a bummer since the X platform has been a favorite time-waster for a long time. The platform's economics have never really worked out for me. The promise of payouts has been elusive and the engagement goalposts to qualify have moved several times. Now, that my account is revived, I'll have to be much more careful with my posts and retweets. I'll likely post more great watch  deals here than there.

The watch offers 30-meter water resistance, a 40mm diameter dial, and a battery good for 1+ years.

The strap is of a generous size and the watch looks like a competitor to entry-level Timex Expedition watches. But, there may be drawbacks with a watch this cheap. Watches A to Z: Laco

Everyone pays attention to the big Swiss watch brands like Rolex, Tudor, and Tissot, but other European countries also have some fantastic brands. For example, the German town of Pforzheim is headquarters to Laco Watches. The company started as Lacher & Co in 1925 and made a name for itself as a producer of aviation watches. During World War II, the company was one of five watch producers for the German Luftwaffe.

The Laco brand uses a variety of Miyota, Sellita, and ETA movements in their watches. If you order from the factory, there are also some upgrade options on the movements for a few seconds per day improvement in watch accuracy. It's an option that I have never heard offered before, but it makes sense. On some of their watches, you can opt for a decorated movement. There are also many options for customizing watches through engraving, changing the step side, the calendar disc, crystal coatings, and swapping watch straps. One of the things that I think makes Laco watches interesting to readers of this blog is attainability. Even with the brand's strong heritage and Made in Germany traditions, Laco offers watches that cost less than $3000. The majority fall around $1200 and the brand has many classic affordable watches that cost less than $600.  You can even find several models on Amazon. For example, the Laco Augsburg Automatic (shown above) is a replica of a World War 2 pilot's watch and it is available via my affiliate link here on Amazon for less than $500!

It's almost baseball season. Opening day for Major League Baseball is Friday, March 27th. Whether you're excited for your team or news that summer is on the way, there are lots of great timepieces to celebrate America's pastime. Ten Dollar Tuesday Watch: EAJOMIN Gediyar G713 Sport Watch

 As we deal with a challenging economy, it can be fun to grab a good looking watch from time to time. This EAJOMIN Gediyar G713 watch recently caught my eye. I'm just a sucker for silver-on-silver watch case and dial combinations. This watch regularly sells for less than $10 and is currently 11% off on top of that to make for a low, low, price. It's a pretty tempting price.

The watch is 43mm in diameter and 9.5mm thick. It comes with a long silicone strap that is 25 centimeters long. That allows this watch to accommodate wrist diameter of up to 9.85-inches. The watch is advertised as waterproof for daily life. (I take that to mean a few splashes or light rain capable.)

The main drawback that I see to this timepiece include the unknown metal quality. There is a review that indicate the wearer got a rash from the clasp to this watch. I'll have to add this drawback to my TGIF post on The Drawbacks of Cheap Watches.
