Watch Wearing Wednesday: Izod Quartz Sport Watch

For this watch wearing Wednesday, my Izod Quartz Sport Watch got the call. I like the way this quick snapshot turned out with a local skyscraper and office building complex in the background and clouds reflected off the crystal of this watch.

I like the black and red combination in this Izod watch.  Black and Red are almost the official sports colors here in Atlanta.  The Georgia Bulldogs (College Football), Atlanta Falcons (NFL Football), and Atlanta United (MLS Soccer) all use combinations of black and red.  The Atlanta Dream (WNBA Basketball) and Atlanta Braves (MLB Baseball) often use lots of red in their uniforms as well.

I got this watch for about $20 at Burlington Coat Factory.  Izod is one of the nicer watch brands that I find in their stores.  Since parting ways with LaCoste in the 1990s, Izod has positioned itself to offer goods at lower prices to a broader variety of people, but the brand still has a strong sense of style and identity. Here are some other Izod watches that I've come across over the years.

Watch Wearing Wednesday: Izod Quartz Watch with Diver Style Markings and Extra Straps

Here's another men's watch find from Ross.  It's an Izod quartz watch with a diver-style bezel and false chrono dials.  It's an attractive and easy to read timepiece in the $25 or so category.

Of course, this Izod watch isn't really an enthusiast timepiece.  But, it does offer a cohesive sense of style, an  affiliation with a well-known brand, and alternative looks through extra watch straps.  The watch comes with a brown strap and is packaged with a dark blue strap and a white strap with a blue line.  The blue and brown straps are made of synthetic leader and the white strap appears to be silicone.  The watch has no spring bars.  Fixed permanent bars are built into the case and the straps merely thread behind the watch back.  It seems strange, but it is actually a good looking watch that is comfortable to wear.

Since we found this at a closeout store, the battery was dead when I tried to set it.  Fortunately, I had an SR626SW watch battery handy and I was able to swap out the dead one with no fuss and no muss.

Overall, this watch would look perfectly appropriate in a business casual work or school environment.  If you like the preppy look and preppy labels, you'll also be comfortable wearing the Izod brand.

Watch Sighting: Izod Diver Style Watch

I recently spotted this Izod diver-style watch in a  discount store for about $15.  It's a nice looking quartz watch, but a little tough to find online.  There's no date window.  It's just a basic no nonsense diver-style watch with a rotating bezel.

I probably should have picked it up.  But, the day was young and I passed on it.  In retrospect, I think it was a pretty good deal.  If I stumble upon it again, I may have to snatch it up. I'm kicking myself because it would have been perfect for that James Bond watch project idea I had a couple of weeks ago.

Sigh.  I may have to root around in my watch boxes to find another nice looking dive watch.

Izod Watches Are Surprisingly Affordable

[I'm revising this post in May of 2024 with Izod watches that I've seen recently.]

If you like preppy watches, you might check out the Izod brand.  On a recent visits to stores like Ross and Burlington, I've been finding attractive Izod watches for about $25.00.  This red and black Izod has a very cool look and works well with all of my Atlanta Falcons gear.

If you like digital watches, Izod also offers a few of those.  I recently came across this one in a Burlington store.

Finally, here is an Izod with faux subdials and diver-style markings.  The hex pattern on the dial and perforated "race car driver" style band make this one eye-catching.

Each of these watches cost less than $25 and that's a pretty good deal!

LaCoste Watches at Macy's

Every once in awhile, a luxury watch brand catches my eye.  I recently passed through a Macy's department store and spotted some interesting looking watches.  For their sheer simplicity, these LaCoste watches caught my eye.

They appear to have high quality bands and clean faces.  As a Florida Gator, I also approve of the logo on the dial.

[Blogger's update 2024:  I recently received a LaCoste watch as a gift.  You can read my review here.]
