Ten Dollar Tuesday: The Kakabi Roman Numeral Watch

Over the past few posts, I've provided some high faluting watches. That's because I wanted us to be able to keep up with the Joneses over at WatchTime. However, if you're living or a fixed income or you have an employer that's trying to fix your income, you always have the option of reverting to a nice looking watch with Roman numerals. In this case, this 40mm diameter Kakabi Men's Classic Quartz Watch with a leather strap looks perfect for a business casual workplace. It hits our $10 mark as well!

Ten Dollar Tuesday: Time100 Quartz Sports Watch for Men

The best time to buy a post-apocalyptic watch is pre-apocalypse. Today's $10 watch is this clunky Time100 from the deepest recesses of the Amazon. The case and straps look very cool. As I write this, I strongly suspect that the subdials will be non-functional, but Chinese watches have surprised me lately.

The Time100 Men's Quartz Watch (Amazon photo)

The listing for this watch had no product details. No highlights. No real description. The specifications offer that it's a quartz watch with 30-meter water resistance. They also list a 43mm diameter case, 13mm thick, with a 22mm wide silicone strap. Of course, I did what any irrational watch collector would do. I ordered it! It was only $9.

Fortunately, the watch arrived on Monday, just prior to this post. In many respects, I'm surprised and pleased by the watch I received. It came in a real box with a collector's tin! A collector's tin for a $9 watch!

The Time100 Chronograph in its collector's tin

Here are some of the answers to some of the key questions you might have:

Do the subdials work? Yes. This watch is a chronograph. It works and the date function works as well.

Does the watch fit? Yes.The strap is generously sized.

Does it have a stainless steel caseback? Yes. That should help keep allergies and skin conditions at bay.

Is there lume? Yes. There is actually a bit of loom on the hour and minute hands.

The functionality and fit of this watch are astounding. Watches that are available at retail stores and cost less than $30 generally don't have working subdials.

The Time100 Chronograph watch

What's disappointing? The watch in the product photo has a flat finish which would have given the timepiece an industrial look, but the actually watch has a very glossy case appearance. This is not a show stopper--just a surprise.

Overall, I'm quite satisfied by the value delivered by this watch.  If you are interested, you can get the Time100 watch here via my Amazon affiliate link. I'll get a teeny-tiny commission. But, you'll get a watch for less than $10. It'll be cool to see how this one holds up over time. I was crazy to buy a watch with so little product information, but it's off to a great start. Ten Dollar Tuesday: Soki Leather Strap Watch

If you don't think sales and marketing professionals add value to a brand, check out this catchy watch name:  "Men Minimalistic Leather Watches Quartz Wristwatch Business Watch Christmas Gifts."  It's mouthful for a $10 watch. This watches strong point is its style. The black dial contrasts well against a chrome style that contains subdials for 24-hour time and chronograph minutes.  The chronograph seconds are underslung at the 6 o'clock position. With military-style field watch fonts and a leather strap, it's kind of a cool look.

The Soki watch has 45mm diameter alloy case that is 10mm thick.  It also has a strap that is 22.5cm long. The dimensions seem generous.  That leaves only two questions:  do the sub-dials work and is this watch reliable? If the answers are yes, this is probably a pretty cool watch.  It's not too farfetched since the subdials on similar inexpensive Chinese watches seem to work.  If you're ready to risk your $10 and see, check it out here via my Amazon affiliate link.

Ten Dollar Tuesday: Agen Kgen Ultra Thin Minimalist Watch

You don't have to pay a maximum price for a minimal watch. There are plenty of low price offerings in the watch market place. A good example would be this $10 watch from Agen Kgen. This watch has a simple, readable, dial in a 41mm diameter case that is just 8mm thick. It's secured to the wrist by a 20mm wide leather strap. It's powered by a Japanese quartz movement.

The brand copy says they draw inspiration from Swedish design. However, the watch is made in Asia and there's no known presence in any specific country for this e-commerce brand. On Amazon, it gets an average of 4.2 out of 397 ratings. Some reviewers mention a fragile glass crystal and rather short strap as drawbacks. It looks like it is pretty easy to swap out the watch strap. For $10, it might be worth rolling the dice and taking your chances. If you'd like to check it out and potentially buy it, use my affiliate link here!

Ten Dollar Tuesday: Gediyar "Spider" Men's Quartz Analog Watch

Sometimes Chinese companies make a cool looking watch, but seem to have no idea how to name it.  For this ten dollar Tuesday, I submit to you the Gediyar "Men Quartz Analog Watch Luxury Military Business Fashion Casual Calendar Male Man Waterproof Wrist Watches for Men." I'll nickname this one the "Spider" due to it's cool dial design. It's an interesting design that can be had in three different color schemes all of which are less than $10.

Gediyar Men's Quartz Analog Watch (Amazon Photo)

This watch has a very interesting design with symmetrical legs extending from a central hub, an exposed date track, and a window offering a peek into the quartz movement. It's a 45mm watch that's 11mm thick.  It has a silicone strap of generous length that should be able to fit wrists up to 10 inches in circumference. The watch is water resistant for daily wear and looks awfully good for just $10.  If you are interested in this watch, check it out further here on Amazon via my affiliate link.

Just remember, this is a $10 watch. You may encounter some of the issues that I've outlined in my post on the drawbacks of cheap watches.  Most of my cheap watches have turned out to be pretty decent, but you might find that the silicone straps are a bit thin or you might encounter short battery life. I didn't see any mention of this watch having a stainless steel case or caseback. You might get a rash or you might get a cool watch.  It can be a role of the dice.

The biggest danger posed by this watch is that it just might spark a question.  That question would be:

If I can get a watch this nice for just $10, how much are the bigger watch brands actually paying for their Asian-manufactured watches?

Ten Dollar Tuesday: Nibosi Men's Square Quartz Chronograph with Diamonds

Can you get a square quartz chronograph watch with diamonds and a moonphase subdial? No.  I don't quite think so. But, you can get square quartz multifunction watch with diamonds and a moon phase subdial. Nibosi is offering this Patek Philippe homage for just under $10 on Amazon. Let me explain the watch below:

Nibosi Quartz "Chronograph" Watch (Amazon Photo)

The Amazon copy says it's a chronograph, but the photo clearly shows a watch with a multi-function dial including the day of the week, the date, the 24-hour time, and a moonphase complication. It also has "diamonds" embedded in the bezel. While it may not be a chronograph, I believe this watch will deliver a nice looking watch with working subdials..  That's why I ordered it.

I have bought a few Nibosi watches and they all seem pretty good.  They aren't perfect, but they are certainly worth a $20 to $40 price tag. Of course, you could pay $244,000 for a similar watch from Patek Philippe. But, the subdials on the one I saw lack the symmetry of the subdial layout on the Nibosi. In addition, quartz movements require less maintenance beyond battery changes. These advantages make the Nibosi the obvious choice.  You can get it here via my Amazon affiliate link.

Ten Dollar Tuesday: The Kakabi Minimalist Men's Watch

One glaringly obvious truth in the watch world is that China can produce a perfectly good wristwatch.  If you aren't trying to make a socio-economic statement or support old world craftsmen, an inexpensive watch that looks good and tells time is sufficient for most people. The Kakabi Minimalist dress watch for men may be a good choice for the basic time-telling mission and it fits within our $10 watch pricing criteria.

Kakabi Minimalist Watch (Amazon Photo)

In the looks department this watch competes well with the Timex Easy Reader and Casio Men's Standard Watches. The watch has a generously-sized 40mm diameter case, easy to read numerals, 304-grade stainless steel case, and a Japanese quartz movement. While some purchasers, aren't happy with the longevity of this watch, the Kakabi gets 4.4 stars overall out of 205 ratings. If you'd like to purchase a watch like this one, you can find it here using my Amazon affiliate link.

Ten Dollar Tuesday: Nuovo Men's Classic Quartz Watch

If you are looking for a classic watch look in an inexpensive package, check out the Nuovo Men's Classic Quartz watch. It's a quartz watch with a 41mm dial that is 10mm thick.

Nuovo Classic 41mm Quartz Watch

The watch has a familiar field watch dial layout. While the advertising copy mentions stainless, the case and bracelet are both alloy metals. Nuovo claims that this watch is water resistant to 30 meters. Several dial color combinations are available. There is another dial arrangement and one with a 50% off special. But, those are for another post.  If you'd like to check this watch out on Amazon, use my affiliate link and see the Nuovo Classic here.

Ten Dollar Tuesday: Civo Military Watch

If you have legions and legions of troops, you don't want to spend too much on their watches, that's where this CIVO Military Watch would come in handy. It seems to be continually marked at 50% off for a price under $10. It delivers on the typical military field watch style.

CIVO Military Watch

The CIVO Military watch is a quartz watch with a 39mm diameter case that is 11mm thick.  It sports a 20mm wide strap that is 240mm long. The manufacturer claims 30-meter water resistance. It's a nice looking field watch for about $10. If you'd like to check it out, use my Amazon affiliate link to see the Civo Military watch here.

Ten Dollar Tuesday: Casotime Tactical Military Watch for Men

If you've got $10 and an appetite for a military-style watch, your money can go far! The Casotime Tactical Military Watch is currently discounted by 60% on Amazon to come in at an amazingly low price that's well below $10. The watch offers 30-meter water resistance, a 40mm diameter dial, and a battery good for 1+ years.

Casotime Tactical Military Watch for Men (Amazon Photo)

The strap is of a generous size and the watch looks like a competitor to entry-level Timex Expedition watches. But, there may be drawbacks with a watch this cheap. For example, the 1-year battery life and "fire-and-forget" operation makes me wonder if it is hard to change a battery. You can check this low-priced Casotime watch out here via my affiliate link.

Ten Dollar Tuesday Watch: EAJOMIN Gediyar G713 Sport Watch

As we deal with a challenging economy, it can be fun to grab a good looking watch from time to time. This EAJOMIN Gediyar G713 watch recently caught my eye. I'm just a sucker for silver-on-silver watch case and dial combinations. This watch regularly sells for less than $10 and is currently 11% off on top of that to make for a low, low, price. It's a pretty tempting price.

EAJOMIN Gediyar G713 Sport watch (Amazon Photo)

The watch is 43mm in diameter and 9.5mm thick. It comes with a long silicone strap that is 25 centimeters long. That allows this watch to accommodate wrist diameter of up to 9.85-inches. The watch is advertised as waterproof for daily life. (I take that to mean a few splashes or light rain capable.)

The main drawback that I see to this timepiece include the unknown metal quality. There is a review that indicate the wearer got a rash from the clasp to this watch. I'll have to add this drawback to my TGIF post on The Drawbacks of Cheap Watches.

Still, it's a great look, a great size, and an incredibly low price. If you want to test your resistance to temptation, check this EAJOMIN Gediyar watch out here via my affiliate link.

Ten Dollar Tuesday Watch: LN Lenqin Diver-Style Watch

The US economy is really rough these days. Lay offs stretch across the land and young people have trouble landing entry-level jobs due to foreign competition and the rise of AI. When young people are living 4-people to a 2 bedroom apartment, it makes luxury watches seem like a distant dream. However, there are plenty of inexpensive watches that can give you great watch looks on a low budget. One watch company that offers low cost watches in China's LN Lenqin. They currently have a diver-style watch for only $10.  It's normally a $20 watch and, as of February 16, 2025, it is 50% off. It's a nice looking Rolex Submariner homage at a very affordable price.

LN Lenqin Diver-Style Quartz Watch

There is a chance that this watch might be inspired by a classic dive watch. It has the dive watch look. The watch has a quartz movement, a date window, a silicone strap, and a mineral glass crystal. There are some complaints with the metal bracelets for this watch, but reviewers seem satisfied with the silicone strap. Water resistance is highly suspect with much of the Amazon copy cautioning against fully immersing the watch. Nevertheless, this watch is faithful to the classic dive watches of our dreams. It comes in several color and case variations. It is available with a date cyclops bubble to mimic the Rolex Submariner look. Overall, it gets 4.1 stars on Amazon. To check it out, visit it here via my Amazon affiliate link.
