Watch Deal Alert: Timex Men's Expedition Scout 40mm

Sometimes, it's hard to look at rising watch prices without remembering what the watches cost back in the 90s or early 2000s. While we know about inflation and the bite it takes out of our purchasing power, it can be tough to see escalating prices impact our watch collections.  That's why it's nice when you see old-time pricing on a familiar watch.  For example, Amazon has some versions of the Timex Men's Expedition Scout on sale.  As of June 14, 2026, it's only 34% off.  But, at less than $25, you'll think you've returned to the times of yore.

This Timex 40mm Expedition Scout has Indiglo backlighting and 50-meters of water resistance and comes in a Green Strap, Gray Case, and Black Dial Configuration. It's a great starting point for anyone wanting a field watch.  You can check it out here using my Amazon affiliate link. The watch comes in a variety of color combinations that range up to just over $50.  But, if you poke around a bit, you may find that Amazon has quite a few used-good or used-excellent condition Timex Expedition watches available at a substantial discount.  Since they are great beater watches, it's hard to go wrong with one.

Watch Deal Alert: Timex Men's E Line 34mm Automatic

Timex isn't just about quartz watches.  They also sell automatics. If you are looking for a sophisticated watch with an elegant design, you might check out the Timex Men's E Line 34mm Automatic.  It's was first issued in 1983, but it remains a contemporary looking timepiece. It has a 34mm diameter square case and a Japanese automatic movement. It also is a great deal on Amazon right now!

The Timex E Line 34mm Automatic with a blue dial is currently 27% off on Amazon. That's a great deal and several versions of this watch are available at prices up to $100 more. 

As a cautionary note, this watch is a frequently returned item.  There are two reasons for this:

1. A 34mm watch is small.  That's great for people with smaller wrists, but many people would consider it a women's watch size. Many people are looking for smaller sizes and this one, as a reissue of a vintage watch, may fit their needs.

2. It's an automatic.  Many casual watch shoppers that are drawn to the Timex name may not realize that an automatic is wound by the movement of the wearer's wrist or by the winding the crown.

Overall, the Timex E Line averages 4.3 stars on Amazon in 75 ratings.  If you recognize the diminutive size and the automatic movement implications and are still interested in the Timex E Line, you can get it here via my Amazon affiliate program link. Timex has a great Amazon deal on its Timex Expedition Scout watch with a blue dial and blue fabric strap.  This Timex Men's 40mm Expedition Scout has a blue dial and a denim-like blue fabric strap mixed with leather in all the right paces.  I reviewed the leather strap version of this watch back in 2018, you can read my Timex Expedition Scout review here. If you are allowed to wear jeans to your office, this watch is just perfect for that kind of casual look!

This watch has a great timeless, chronograph, style. It's also function. The big second hand is only used for its stop watch functionality. Press a button and you're timing. Press another button and that big hand comes to a stop with a precise time. Press another button and it resets to time again. There's a video in the Amazon listing that shows how it works.

Watch Spotlight: The Affordable Timex Men's Southview!

If you are looking for a nice Timex, there are plenty of beautiful watches in the Timex Waterbury Collection, but sometimes Timex offers similar features in their regular watch collections.  For example, the Timex Men's Southview Quartz Watch has lines that are very similar to some of the watches in the Waterbury Collection.  It has a 41mm diameter brass case, a crown with a golden tone, and a nice genuine leather strap. The Roman number font has a simpler modern font and the dial is one color. Where the Waterbury collection embraces traditional and decorative details, this Southview embraces modernity and minimalism.

Watch Deal Alert: Timex 39mm Waterbury Traditional GMT

[Updated on April 19, 2026, with a lower base price.]

This is a quick post to let everyone know that the 39mm Timex Waterbury Traditional GMT watch is available at a low price. Since this one has the synthetic rubber strap, the price is just a smidge under $90. That's a great deal because this watch is a higher grade of Timex than you typically see in mass retailers like Walmart.  Since Timex was originally founded as the Waterbury Clock Company back in 1854, this watch really plugs into the company's rich history.

As a GMT watch, this Timex has a fourth hand to keep track of the time in another timezone.  The dimensions of this quartz watch are 39mm diameter in the case and 10mm thick. This one has a synthetic rubber strap. A Timex Waterbury watch brings a touch of history and heritage to any watch collection. 

I think it's an awesome look and I actually bought one with a genuine leather strap back in 2024.  You can read my review of the Timex 39mm Waterbury Traditional GMT here on this blog. This watch is getting lots of good publicity as of this 2026 update and prices may not stay low for long.

Timex Watches at Walmart: Timex Expedition (Model T49908)

Late at night, it can be fun to peruse the watch counters at Walmart.  It gives me a chance to peruse the watches that are available at affordable prices.  Lately, I've been intrigued by the Timex offering at the big discount store.  For example, some of the Timex Expedition watches pictured below sell for far higher prices at other brick and mortar retailers.

The watch on the far right is intriguing because it reminds me of my AVI-8 Hawker Hurricane watch.  However, without the fighter plane motif and insignia, it's not nearly as cool.  The Timex Expedition on the far left looks much like my Timex Vintage Metal.  It's a birthday gift watch that my wife paid $54 for at Belk.

Of the watches pictured, I am most interested in the second watch from the left.  It's Timex Expedition (Model T49908) and it features a simulated wood grain dial.  The band is leather.

This Timex Expedition provides a natural look at an affordable price.  I often find good watches at Walmart on clearance or within the realm of an impulse purchase.  Of course, this Timex is available at the best price here on Amazon.

If it takes a licking, just get another one. . .

Every once in a while, a dude has to go on an adventure. It means stepping away from the keyboard, putting down the game controller, and actually going outside into the elements. Out there, you're going to need an adventurous watch. There are two schools of thinking about adventurous watches. Some people want an expensive multi-function watch that can do everything. Others might want a cheap almost disposable watch that can easily be replaced. 

One such cheap adventurer's watch might be the basic analog Timex Expedition Camper watch. It looks tactical, but it's got a black fabric band and a plastic case in its least expensive version. With a 38mm diameter dial and a case that is only 8mm thick, it's a lightweight bang around watch that you'll barely notice that you're wearing.  It keeps time well though and can be had for just over $20 ($40 on sale in 2025). It has macho looks, 100-meter water resistance, and the Timex indiglo backlighting system, but it remains  a dirt cheap field watch in its most basic form.
