Watch Sighting: Bulova Marine Star at T.J. Maxx

At T.J. Maxx, I recently spotted this Bulova Marine Star in a rich gold hue with a dark dial and subdials.  It looks like an exclusive watch for the world's wealthiest.  But, at T.J. Maxx, this Bulova watch was relatively affordable at less than $200.

Bulova Marine Star Chronographs are beautiful and functional men's watches that are inspired by the sea and maritime endeavors like boating. This one is a functional timepiece with a rich look.

[November 2024 Update - Over the years, I've come to love the Bulova Marine Star line.  I've got a few Marine Star models in my collection including a vintage model and a more modern chronograph.  To check out the full range of Bulova Marine Star watches on Amazon, simply click here!]

Jack Spade Watches at T.J. Maxx

A few nights ago, my wife and I went to our local T.J. Maxx to get a couple of pillows. Whenever we visit, I have to check out the watch section. I don't always buy a watch, but it is an interesting place to get a glimpse at brands that I don't normally see.  On this outing, I saw several interesting watches from Jack Spade.

I thought Jack Spade might be an adventurer or fashion designer.  But, Jack Spade is actually the menswear arm of the famous Kate Spade fashion house.  The brand offers many interesting watch designs.  Jack Spade watches have Swiss quartz movements and solid designs.  For $59, this watch is a bargain.

This chronograph diver-style watch is also a great by at just under $70.  It has the classic look that you expect of a dive watch.

For comparisons sake you can see the same watches here on Amazon.com.  Obviously the amount you can save at T.J. Maxx on these watches is considerable.  Of course, inventory at T.J. Maxx is hit-and-miss.  They typically sell close-out and overstock from other retailers.

[As I revisit this post in 2024, I see that Jack Spade watches have disappeared from the Kate Spade line up.  It looks like they really did clear them out.  If you were able to get one, you might have a bit of a collectors item.]

Bulova at T.J. Maxx

Sometimes when you poke around at T.J. Maxx, you'll find some interesting watches.  I saw recently saw this tanker-style Bulova automatic. I even tried it on.  It has an exhibition case back and a window into it's mechanism on the front.  Priced at only $149, it was a steal.  It was certainly a great discount from the regular price of about $450.  Unfortunately, the T.J. Maxx was still about $147 more than I had at the time. So, I passed.  It might still be there waiting for the economy to improve.

Invicta Men's Vintage Collection Leather Strap Watch

I bought this Quartz Invicta for $99 at TJ Maxx down.  However, it didn't come with any paperwork and I didn't even know what model it was. Fortunately, the gang at mywristwatch forum was able to identify it for me.  Although my watch is black, in brown, it's an Invicta Men's 1461 Vintage Collection Brown Dial Riveted Leather Strap Watch.  In black, it's model 1460.

Invicta Vintage Collection Watch

This watch has a stainless steel case, a genuine calf-leather strap, Swiss-made parts, 50 meter water resistance, and nice details on the rivets and crown.  Amazingly, the forum folks were able to find it for only $46.32 on Amazon.  You can find my review of my Invicta Vintage Collection watch here.
