Sharp Watch Shout Out: Ratio FreeDiver 200M Professional Diver Watch

If you want a sharp-looking diver-style watch that diverges from the typical Rolex Submariner-inspired watches, you might want to check out the RATIO FreeDiver Professional Dive Watch with 200-meters of tested water resistance.

RATIOI Freediver with 200 meters of water resistance

The RATIO watch brand started in Singapore and is dedicated to bringing rugged high quality watches to the market at attainable price points.  They offer dive watches with 200, 500, and 1000 meter water resistance, aviation watches, and field watches.

[As of September 2025, Ratio watches seem to have disappeared off of Amazon. You may be able to find it used on the platform if you search.]

Sharp Watch Shout Out: GUESS Stainless Steel Gunmetal Quartz Chronometer

Here's a cool looking watch that I recently stumbled across while dream surfing Amazon.  For a relatively inexpensive watch, this GUESS Stainless Steel Gunmetal Quartz Chronometer takes the guilloché grand prize!  Guilloche is the name for decorative patterns engraved into the dial of the watch. I chose this watch because it gives off a dressy, but sinister vibe.  It's also a watch that most of us can easily afford.

While this watch is affordable, it's also functional.  The subdials work and provide chronometer functionality.

My Poor Man's Perrelet - Sharp Turbine Style Watch

I really like the spinning rotor designs of Perrelet watches, but they are way out of my price range.  However, I have a Sharp-brand quartz watch from Kmart that pays a bit of homage to the rotor turbine watches of Perrelet.  I like to wear the one pictured below from time to time.

While the rotor doesn't spin, the hub and spoke motif are timeless.

A Sharp Digital Watch with an All Metal Look

If you like the looks of heavy duty watches that look like they were machined from solid blocks of steel, you might like the Sharp Metal Digital Watch from Kmart.  The watch looks like it's all brushed stainless, but it has a stainless steel caseback and base metal case.

2025 Update: I sure miss Kmart. They had so many cheap watches at great prices.

The Sharp Turbine Watch at Le Kmart!

As a man of distinction, good taste, and an appreciation of the finer things, it is only natural that I should gravitate towards impressive horological achievements like the Perrelet Turbine automatic watch.  But, alas, I have not the wealth to match my timekeeping aspirations.  I had to seek alternatives to the Perrelet Turbine.  Fortunately, I was able to snatch up this turbine-style watch from Sharp at Kmart for only $19.99!  Kmart even sent me a letter and key ring card recognizing me as a VIP.  Take that Switzerland!
