Watch Wearing Wednesday: US Polo Association Quartz Sport Watch in Red & Black

This US Polo Association quartz sports watch in red and black shows that even the most inexpensive watches can have a dramatic look and keep time accurately. Here's a shot of this US Polo Assn watch and the sun setting over a strip mall.

This watch has a non-rotating bezel that has GMT markings.  However, at this under $30 price point, you won't find actual GMT functionality. It's still a great looking style.

Where to Find US Polo Assn Watches for Men

Of course, when it comes to watch styles, there is nothing more fleeting than an inexpensive quartz watch from a fashion brand like US Polo Assn. You can typically find these watches at department stores like JC Penney and discount stores like Burlington or Ross. Encounters with the brand can be random and sometimes retailers disappear entirely (like Kmart and Sears).  Fortunately, you can find a nice selection of inexpensive watches from US Polo Assn here on Amazon.com.

Watch Wearing Wednesday: Kenneth Cole REACTION watch with white dial

Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone has a great year. To kick things off, I present a shot of a Kenneth Cole REACTION watch that I took at two minutes to midnight. Not THE midnight, but a midnight. Over the years, I've bought a few watches from Kenneth Cole and they've all turned out to be reliable timepieces that have a bit of style and swagger.  Every one that I've bought has been a bargain from Ross. However, even at full retail prices, they would have been good purchases. Here's a moody photo of this Kenneth Cole REACTION watch that I took at 2 minutes to midnight.

Watches for Christmas 2024

Some Fun Watch Photos for Christmas

Are you all set for Christmas? I thought this might be a good time to share some of the Christmas oriented watch photos that I've taken lately. Everyone was recently ogling my Kenneth Cole New York watch with transparent dial. This guy was nuts over it.

A Nutcracker goes crazy for my Kenneth Cole New York Watch

Of course, he wasn't the only Christmas Character to like Kenneth Cole watches. This Kenneth Cole REACTION watch generated quite the reaction from Santa himself! It obviously made his list.

This Santa likes the Kenneth Cole REACTION watch in icy blue.

This Santa looks a little tired.  Perhaps he is just looking forward to the off-season with this US Polo Assn watch.  Reindeer polo anyone?

Another Santa is happy with a US Polo Assn quartz watch

Of course, when you least expect it, the Grinch comes along to threaten everything.  You have to watch out for Grinches, they ruin everything.

I hope you take the time to have a merry little Christmas yourself free from all the world's Grinches!

TGIF: Opening Up My Structure Instrument Panel Watch

If at first you don't succeed, get a different tool . . .

My Structure Instrument Panel Watch after being shucked like an oyster

I will always love my humble Structure Instrument Panel Watch for letting me save about $3975 over the price of a Bell & Ross.  Here it is before getting a new NATO strap.  That savings is why I named this brand one of my Top 7 Off-brand / Store Brand Commodity Quartz Watches.

P.S. Don't be crazy about that knife.  If your hand slips (and it likely will), you could potentially cut yourself really bad.  Find a better tool.

Watch Wearing Wednesday - Armitron Stainless Steel Watch

When it comes to watches, I do like the shine of a watch with silver tones.  Even as the sun sets, this watch from Armitron catches the last light of the evening and makes the most of it.

Armitron Stainless Steel Quartz Watch

This watch has been in my collection for over a decade.  If you'd like to see my review, check it out on this blog here. With a new battery, it's keeping time accurately without missing a beat.  Since this watch is almost vintage now, that makes this blog almost vintage, and that makes me almost vintage, too.

[While I can't find this Armitron for sale in 2024, there are lots of reasonably priced Armitron watches available on Amazon.]

Watch Wearing Wednesday: Men's Grenen Sports Watch with Analog Calendar Features

When you were a kid, did your grandfather ever give you a wooden token or small coin that was marked as a "Round Tuit?" If you got a "Round Tuit," it was supposed to empower you to go out and do all the things that you were going to do if you ever got around to it.  It was kind of dumb, pre-baby boomer, humor that usually elicited a combination of a suppressed sigh, groan, rolling of the eyes, and a strong attempt to pay attention and give respect to the World War 2 and Great Depression generation.  In our hobby, getting around to changing the batteries on quartz watches can be put off for a long time.  But, when you do change those batteries, it's like Christmas.  The gift is all kinds of watches that you haven't worn for awhile.  This watch (below) is from Skagen and was sold through it's Grenen brand at stores like Kohl's.

Grenen Men's Watch with Analog Calendar Features

I wore this watch a lot for the first couple of years of ownership and then it got packed away for about a decade when the battery died.  Now, it's back and it looks great.  It's like a vintage sports car now.
