Russian Vostok Watches
One of my favorite watches is from Russia. It's a vintage Vostok Komandirskie military watch that a friend bought for me at a Moscow flea market. It's got plenty of character. It has a few scratches on the crystal and the shadow of a minute hand is permanently shown as a dark line on a sun-faded dial. But, it still works well.
Vostok Amphibia
I thought all the old-school military watches had faded from the market. However, I found that Amazon.com has a nice selection of Vostok military watches at very reasonable prices. These watches are manually-wound, mechanical, classics with screw down crowns and the ability to withstand harsh Russian winters. These are a good deal and I'm very tempted to add some more to my collection!
