My Fantasy Watch Gift List

It's time to compile ye olde watch dude's Christmas fantasy watch gift list.  Of course, the season is about giving, baby Jesus, manger scenes, and Salvation Army kettles.  However, it's also fun to think about the watches that would be cool gifts to receive.  If money was no object for Santa, my friends, and relatives, here are three watches that I would love to find under our Christmas tree.

1. Rolex Daytona. The Rolex Daytona Cosmograph is just plain cool. According to the Rolex blog, there was a time when it was one of the worst sellers for Rolex. But, according to the Rolex blog, Paul Newman wore a Rolex Daytona with a white dial and black subdials in the movie - Winning.  From then on, it was off to the races with a little subtle help from Rolex.  Of course, there are less expensive alternatives to the Rolex Daytona.  But, it would be nice to have the genuine article.

2. Omega Seamaster "James Bond" Dive Watch.  The Omega Seamaster 300 Meter Dive watch would be a very cool addition to my collection.  For the first month of ownership, I would probably wear a tuxedo 24/7 and introduce myself Last Name, First Name, Last Name at every opportunity.  Of course, I would love the special James Bond Spectre edition because it looks too subtle to compromise my secret identity.

3. Tudor Black Bay Dive Watch.   Of course, I don't have to have that Rolex name on my list.  I like to fly under the radar.  Even if I own fancy watches, I'll still eat at Waffle House.  That's where the Tudor Black Bay Dive watch will come in.  It's made by Rolex but uses non-Rolex Swiss movements.  It looks great.  It's an automatic.  It offers 200 meters of water resistance.  It costs about $10,000 less than the famed Rolex submariner.  It's quality, but it doesn't flash that fancy logo.  People won't murmur about whether it is real.  It's a luxury watch value and it has a rugged looking leather band.  Tudor is an alternative to Rolex and Omega watches.  It's an alternative that I might one day aspire to own.
